Disney Star Wars Virtual 13.1 Training – Week 13

This was not a good week for me. I put in a lot of 10-12 hour days with work and was mentally and physically exhausted all week. Suffice to say, my motivation was about zero. However, thanks to my runs that I did get in, I was able to get my Strava badge for Nuun “Conquer Quitter’s Day with Nuun Challenge”. It was just getting a 8 hours total of workouts, but it’s always fun completing challenges.

Monday 1/25

The plan for today was a 4.75 mile endurance run. I got done work so late that I wasn’t able to workout until around 10:30pm. I didn’t want to run and hurt myself since I was so tired, so I hopped on the trainer for 38 minutes. I tried initially to ramp up the resistance to get my HR up, but it was too much, so I eased off. Even though I was exhausted, it still helped a lot with my stress to get in a workout.

Tuesday 1/26

I was doing much better today. I had a gap during work so I decided to get in my run then. The plan for today was a 3 mile tempo run. However, I decided to do Monday’s 4.75 mile endurance run. As always, started with NTC Wake-up Warm-up and then got to my run. Overall I felt pretty good. There was a point about half way through where I need to walk for an interval, but I was back on track for the rest.

Wednesday 1/27

Today was a rest day. I did a 20 minute Apple Fitness+ workout, Yoga with Jessica. It felt really good to stretch things out after my run yesterday. I followed that up with a 30 minute trainer ride. Still a pretty late workout, but it felt really good after my Tuesday run and another really long work day.

Thursday 1/28

Nike Run Club called for a benchmark run today. However, not to be on repeat here, but I had a really rough work day and I was feeling exhausted. I was able to get myself doing a 34 minute trainer ride. I really ramped up the resistance on this ride. I start out with my usual 5 minutes of low resistance, then kept building it. I felt a lot more relaxed and calm after my workout. My workouts, even if I have not been able to get in the exact planned workout, have been crucial to helping me wind down for the day so I can at least get some decent sleep and be ready for the next day.

Friday 1/29

Another typical Friday. I got done work later than planned, but we cleaned. So, I skipped my planned NTC workout and just hopped on the trainer for about 48 minutes. I didn’t really push too hard since I was exhausted already from cleaning. It still felt good to loosen up though, especially going from sitting all day for work to cleaning where I am squatting, kneeling, going up and down stairs a million times.

Saturday 1/30

Today’s long run called for 9.75 miles. I was feeling much better than I expected from Friday, so I got moving. I did my NTC warm-up to get loose, then started with my 5 minute warm-up walk. Overall the run went really well. I was hitting all of my Galloway intervals of 2 minute run, 30 second walk for most of the run. I had 2 points where I missed the intervals. The first was because I haven’t consumed nutrition during a run in a long time, so I needed to walk to have my Honey Stinger Strawberry Kiwi energy gel. Even though it worked, my system was not used to that and I ended up having a stomach ache from it. Not a big deal though as it didn’t really hit me until the run was almost over. The second miss on the interval was because I just needed that extra bit to get my energy back; nothing special. It was nice though that I only had one of these. Usually I need at least three of these for my long runs.

Sunday 1/31

Another rest day was scheduled for today, and it was much needed. I still did a trainer ride for 45 minutes, and I also made sure to ramp up the resistance a bit. I didn’t go too hard though since I didn’t want to stress my legs too much since I had my long run. Overall it felt good and I made to relax.
